At the height of the german empire, the wilhelminischen era of 1890 up to the end of the First World War, more and more well situated citizens moved in the district Grünau in Berlin. Directly in the regatta distance of the Dahme the ball-room Riviera was equipped with several halls between 1890 and 1895.

In spite of the today's decay and the sober facade the architecture of the last but one turn of the century is still to be recognised inside; interesting somewhat is also a hidden small hall with arabesk-decorated stucco in which stand on columns a dandy-like man with wine bottle and a barbusige lady in the corsage and from the rather secret decadence fin de siécle testify. The discoverable springs to the object are scanty, sometimes contradictory, but it was there a palm garden, a bath house, a room of the free wall box as well as own pier and was worth till the men in his thirties years as a famous address for musician.
Also in the GDR it was still a popular destination, even if it could not go back any more to the size of the former years and had smaller rooms which were used either as a hotel room or for overnight stays of state organisations. A whole series of investors has been interested since the turn of the millennium in situation and building and has presented plans for the rebuilding to the congressional hotel or new event possibilities, then jumped not least off, however, because of the high demands for the conservation of monuments and historic buildings again. Because the buildings are in a so bad state that in a few years the complete demolition is feared and a renovation is looked as uneconomical, in the meantime, the district is so far to make only the preservation of both big halls as a default for a rebuilding.
