Street Art by Alias in Berlin

Alias came to the Street Art at the turn of the millennium. Short time later he moved to Berlin and lives and works since then in the german capital. Alias is since some years one of the most active street artists in the Berlin scene.

At the moment ALIAS sticks only poster to walls, because it is less problematic juridically. However, he would also like to work with pleasure more with spray cans and make stencils – nevertheless, this would be illegal. He gets his pictures from the Internet. Mostly these are the children whom he sprays. The qualified media creator works on the pictures, prints them and makes stencils of them which he sprays on posters.

He doesn't care the copyright of the pictures, nobody asks him whether he may use his pictures too.

Meanwhile he sprays only at places at which he thinks that they disturb nobody. The artist would never touch fresh cleaned houses.

He had his first contact with the Street Art in Hamburg. In Berlin, however, he was intimidated first a little bit, because the scene is more international than in some other cities. Finally, he ventured with his first motive – a cobblestone with glasses – however, on the street. In the beginning this head should remain his only poster to be able to make to itself a name. This soon, nevertheless, became too dull to him and he searched new motives for himself: a large part of it: Children!

Most of his works are grey and black, mostly still with a signal colour combined. Einie of times the week he is on the move in Berlin, mostly in Mitte, Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg.

His pictures have no political statements, but should show rather different emotions and he prefers a negative mood. However, his works nothing deal with wars or disasters, him interest the personal crises of the people whom he tries to move.

Alias uses old wood or rusty metal as a material. By varnish and oil ALIAS tries to extend the durability of his works and to strengthen.

Meanwhile he can live on the sales of his pictures. Street Art has become for him a Fulltimejob. Although also he has, in the meantime, his own exhibitions, nevertheless, his passion belongs to the street. To form his motivation pictures for galleries is mostly very low. He would rather like to surprise, this would be better on the street simply as in galleries.

All in all, he is glad to see that Street Art gets in the focus of society.
