Street Art by Plotbot Ken in Berlin

The german Street Artist Plotbot Ken is known in Germany for his apocalyptic stencils. Everywhere in Berlin he sprayed his famous stencils on different public places and in desolate buildings and remote factories. Most of his art shows people carrying gas masks and finding themselves in different apocalyptic situations.

In Berlin his stencils show atom – or chemical disasters. The stencils are in contrast between bright colours and darkness. His artworks don't show fictions from films, but the bitter reality from our present and future. The people on most of his pictures carry protective suits. Trigger for this kind of pictures was the misfortune of Fukushima. He was shocked and started spraying apocalyptic pictures.

The artist comes from Frankfurt and lives since some years in Berlin. He worked in an office and made some music but after some years he noticed that  both jobs wouldn't lead him to anything, so he wanted to change something in his life and came to Berlin. He didn't know what he would do in the capital, but he was sure that it would be something creative.

Thus he started to experiment with graffiti. Instead of making his work only on the street, he rather selected different desolate places all around the town. He admits that most suppose that the street is the best place to reach an audience but these desolate buildings have their advantages. For his biggest work the artist needed 5 days, on the streets this would not have been possible. But there is one more reason, why he decides over and over again to paint on such places. His pictures are very apocalyptic and fit perfectly in these surroundings. According to his opinion, these are the perfect backgrounds.
