Street Art by MTO in Berlin

The Street artiste MTO is called in real life Mateo and comes from France. Nevertheless, for some years he lives in Berlin. Actually, MTO never wanted to spray graffiti. But when he came in 2008 to Barcelona, he sprayed several times and was totally inspired. 

Finally, thus he came to Berlin. The artist does not know, when Street Art started appearing in Berlin for the first time, but he likes Berlin because the town is for him like a coloured comic, because Street Art and graffiti can be found almost everywhere.

His works are held in black-and-white, combined with a breath by Red or pink. Mostly it concerns famous music stars, the MTO to the wall brings, but sometimes these are also film stars. Mostly the works are 2,5 metres high, he needs 2-5-hour time around such a picture to the wall to bring. If, however, one sees with what exactness MTO paints these pictures, it is very little time. These pieces of art have got going his career only so properly. He admires Banksy which photographer Annie Leibowitz and still some other artists and draws inspiration from them and this, although he is an artiste for many people one of the best Street generally.

Nevertheless, a large part of his life takes graffiti. The unusual artist from the music, photographs, films and documentations as well as Street the kind which meets him over and over again everywhere pulls his inspiration. He has inherited his detailed-exact eye from his father who made analogous black-and-white pictures and showed them to him.

A large part of his famous personalities which he paints are black. However, this did not happen intentionally. Most musicians to whom he listens with pleasure and wanted to give tribute are black. But he was asked to paint also fames which are not black, he wants to keep to it and also paint more women. He does not plan his works, he always tries to hold his equipment minimum. He says from himself that he is still in the text phase and never follows demselbsten system or the same methodology.

To be able to strike better in the scene, he consciously keeps to few colours which he uses. Black-and-white with the signal colour Red. Itself his style sometime changes, if he did not like to exclude, however, because he makes always exactly this what he just likes.

MTO works only with spray colours. If he paints on the street, he paints of a photo of the respective star. If he paints, nevertheless, a facade of a building, he takes photos to compare them later on the computer and the next day he can carry out some corrections.
